thoughts in film

Baka Bana Calling, New York 2011, 16 mm

Baka Bana Calling is an experimental film that celebrates the concept of multiculturalism. It is a film which explores connections, globalism, migration, and food. Baka Bana originally is a fried plantain dish that is served with peanut sauce. Its origin is rooted in South America and Indonesia. As a Dutch filmmaker, I have always embraced the various perspectives of culture, which ultimately inspired and structured the development of this film and evoked the calling for a taste of Baka Bana.

Horseman, New York, 2011, 16 mm

Horseman is an abstract representation of the norm. This experimental film explores and challenges the boundaries of nature. What is the norm? What does it mean to have and haven't been exposed to alteration and different interpretations of the norm?

A Fictional Life of the Printed Word, New York, 2011, 16 mm

The melancholic tone is a reference to the contemporary transition of the printed word to the digital word. Will the digitalization of our world win it from the physical book?
